MCMXIII: 2006-2010

I’ve been trying to think of a witty way to begin this entry on our demise, but I guess I’ll just keep it simple. Since 1913 has run it’s course. It’s been a good run but inevitably, people change and things fall apart. We started this band in 2006 to try and shake up the monotonous music scene in Richmond which was flooded with bad metalcore and the infamous “bree”. It has never been easy and we’ve made way more friends doing this than fans. Fast forward four years and 1913 is a completely different entity. Our sound has changed drastically, but remains as abrasive and unwelcoming as ever. Our sole intention in starting this band was to write music that WE would want to hear, and we have never strayed from our original goal. Thanks to anyone who has ever supported us either by buying merch, letting us sleep in your house, sending us hate mail, or actually seeing through the bullshit and realizing that we were just trying to bring something different to the table. You all made everything worthwhile.

Our final show will be Sunday July 25th at the Canal Club. We’ll be playing with some friends and a lot of bands that we’ve never shared the stage with. We wont be playing any older songs because we’d only be selling ourselves short. We’ll be selling the last bit of our merchandise for super cheap and partying our dicks off. It should be a fun time and it will be the last time you’ll be able to hear any of our songs that everyone hates. So come hang out, drink a couple of beers with us, buy some shit, reminisce, tell us to play the hardcore song, heckle us, and help send us off into the sunset in a fiery blaze of glory.

- Jeffery Bias, Chad Melton, Blake Melton, Jarrod Hall, and Reed Mincey

Since 1913, 2006-2010

Well, Chad has been gone for a few months now, and we have been trudging on writing songs with his replacement Reed Mincey. Songs are coming out more dark, cohesive, and structurally mature than any of our previous works. I recently took some time out to record a few preproduction demos for out as-of-yet recorded EP “Heavy Teeth,” although vocals haven’t been run through the mic yet. I’ll be sure to upload a sample or two later this month.

TRANSMISSION .002

Writing for Heavy Teeth has been going pretty steady. We have 5 songs written out of what we hope to be a 7-songer. Once we get some money, we’ll hopefully be booking some studio time at Planet Red studio downtown. Also, we only have two shows booked for now, due to most of out time being spent writing the album of the year. May 22nd we’ll be playing alongside our pals in No Greater Love, at Southside 220 in Roanoke. Come along. May 29th we’ll be playing with our worst enemies, Conditions. This will be held at the Canal Club, in Richmond.
